2009 outlook in short

Over all the year 2009 will be an emotional year. The digits add up to number (2+0+0+9) 11, the auspicious master number ruled by Moon.

Number 9 in numerology and nine in 2009 being the number ruled by red planet "Mars" the lord of War or the commander in chief himself, signifies youthfulness, courage, warmth, energy, passion, power position, ego, adventure, anger and aggression. Which means, this year the actions or events could be aimed at the extreme levels. Existing conflicts may get intensified further. Mars and Moon is not a best combination in terms of relationships or partnerships however, the combination signifies a powerful Lakshmi Yog in Astrology. So hopefully, money matters may turnout to be good! (in spite of recession!) expect heavy or very low rain fall this year.

2008 was ruled by Sun as the total add up to 10 (1) while 8 is ruled by Saturn. There is no synergy between the two according to Indian mythology. Even though lord Saturn is a son of lord Sun -they are believed to be bitter enemies of each other as per mythology-no wonder 2008 was one of the worst year in India's history.


The year 2008 started with a shocking incident rocking the city of Mumbai on the eve of new year. Two women were molested by the mob of 70-80 men near Juhu, Mumbai. If the year begins with such a shameful note, no wonder the worst followed. The year 2008 left us bleeding through financial meltdown, liquidity & credit crunch, high inflation, oil prices reaching too high, flood disaster in Bihar, repeated terror attacks, MNS aggression towards north Indian's and not to ignore the unfortunate incidents of stampede in sacred places like Nanda Devi & Chamunda Devi temples in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan respectively.


Those ruled by number 1 (Sun), 2 (Moon), 3 (Jupiter) , 7 (Ketu) and 9 (Mars) may have relatively good time, however, don't forget these numbers are associated with the planets that signify them and their placement in your chart will decide the outcome accordingly as per your current Graha (Planet) transit & dasa (benefic or malefic), karma (efforts of past and present), deeds (good or bad), luck (divine grace) and destiny (past life deeds).

The new year eve involves number (1+1+2+0+09) 13 (additions make it 4), the number ruled by Rahu, the lord of unexpected & hidden developments/events. It indicates India might continue to be in the state of confusion due to unfolding of hidden events and problems. Weight-Wait & Watch approach may be useful.

At the new year eve (00.01 am, 1 Jan 2009) (in the chart above )Virgo sign (no 6, 1st house) is rising (is in the east), its lord Mercury is transiting in the 5th house (the house of divine grace) along with Jupiter and Rahu in Capricorn, the sign (ruled by Saturn) that signifies sacrifices. Mercury signifies basic intelligence while Jupiter signifies higher knowledge and divine grace.

The Chart indicates people at large this year will be smart, bit aggressive and conservative and may make prudent decisions. People may be spiritually more inclined and perhaps may make lots of sacrifices or might be forced in some cases.

Planets in 2009 indicate, people at large may experience the supreme grace coming to the rescue in the troublesome times during 2009. with out divine grace no body will be able to support you in times of crisis. So seek divine help specially when going is good.

Lord Saturn, the lord of 5th & 6th house (Capricorn & Aquarius ) in this chart is transiting in retrograde motion in (Leo) the 12th house, the house of expenditure, separation, sleep and salvation. which suggests slowdown in activities, increase in debt and expenses and it could be due to health problems, repaying old dues and religious rituals.

Sun, the lord of 12th house (Expenditure) is transiting 4th house (emotions, mental peace, comforts) in Sagittarius along with Mars, the lord of 3rd & 8th house (Scorpio & Aries) indicating mental disturbances and troublesome times ahead for the masses due to increased expenses, debts, delays and hurdles and other problems.

Venus, the lord of love & affection (Lord of wealth and Luck & gains house) along with Moon, the lord of emotions are placed in apposition to Saturn in the the 6th house debt, health problems, enemies. Many may go too crazy. Those outing/dating/socializing (female) need to be careful during new year night and ahead during the entire month.
